July 2020

Hello from all of us here at Sewn and Quilted, as we live through lockdown no. 2! We hope you are staying safe and keeping well no matter where you are in Australia or the world.

Just a couple of weeks ago we were keenly anticipating re-opening our doors to walk in customers and having a bit more normality in our shop lives. We were very much looking forward to catching up with so many of you again in person! However, those plans were not to be. Covid has again had an unfortunate impact on all our lives here in Melbourne, as we again find ourselves in lockdown.

Things continue to keep bubbling away busily here though at the shop, and our days and weeks just seem to all roll in together. We continue to plan for when we do re-open, and just this week changed the layout of the shop and class areas, so that these two areas are now more easily separated. Our main room is now all shop, and the second room will be our class area. Not surprisingly, this has left us with ‘quite a few’ piles to sort through! Definitely a bit more work to be done over the coming weeks.
Take a look at all of the BEAUTIFUL NEW FABRICS, books and magazines we have in stock to cheer us all up while we're in lockdown here in Melbourne again. Nothing like new fabric or a new project to bring a smile to our faces!

Remember we're just a phone call, email or mail order away, and contactless pick up is available if you live locally to us.

Do you follow us on Instagram? It's a great way to keep connected and see what's happening in the shop. You can find us here or by searching for @sewn_and_quilted in the app.

Books and Magazines

Cowslip Country Quilts by Jo Colwill. Jo’s work draws on everyday life in the country—filled with animals from her farm, flowers from her garden and meadows where the sheep graze that stretch as far as the eye can see.  There are also scenes of country fairs and a darling Noah’s ark.  Each quilt is accompanied by adorable pie-crust cushions.  This book is full of warmth and charm that wonderfully illustrates the soul of its author.  The 16 projects presented are for all experience levels—each carefully detailed and illustrated.

Megumi Mizuno has been a student of Yoko Saito for more than 20 years. She loves appliqué and the traditional Japanese universe, which she interprets with the famous little Japanese dolls, the Kokeshi and the Daruma. Megumi showcases them here with small projects and one spectacular quilt.

We currently have a good supply of the following magazines - we have been advised these will not be available in Newsagents at this stage, so grab one before they're all gone!
